4 Signs it's Time to Replace your Boiler

March 04, 2017

Is it time to replace your new boiler? Knochelmann Service Experts is here with a couple signals to look for when determining whether it’s time to purchase a new boiler.

Age

If your condensing boiler receives standard maintenance, you can expect it to operate about 15 years or more. Cast iron boilers can last even longer, even up to 50 years with proper maintenance. If your condensing boiler is coming up on 15 years or your cast iron boiler is almost 50 years, it may be time to discuss an upgrade.

Bills

If your energy bills are increasing or you’re having to maintain your boiler more frequently, it could be because it’s time to buy a new, more efficient boiler.

Discoloration

If you notice yellow flames on the gas burners and black soot on oil burners it could be a signal that the fuel is not burning adequately and could be generating carbon monoxide. If you notice these issues or have any concerns regarding carbon monoxide in your home, you should call Knochelmann Service Experts or your gas company immediately.

Comfort

If some of the rooms in your home are too cool or too warm and you can’t seem to control them appropriately or get them comfortable, it could be that your boiler is not effective anymore and you may need to look into upgrade choices.
