Here's What to Do When Your Furnace Won't Ignite
We are making our way through the last few weeks of winter but we still are relying on our furnaces, especially during frigid nights. Not much is worse than going to bed at night just to realize your furnace won’t start up. If you find yourself in this situation, here are some things you can check yourself before calling Knochelmann Service Experts.
Check Air Filters
You should replace standard air filters each month. If you don’t, they can end up clogged, restricting air flow and resulting in a furnace malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
Try turning the temperature up a few degrees to get the furnace to kick on. If the actual room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t kick on. Also, verify the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem silly, but make sure the power switch next to the furnace is “On.” Even gas furnaces use electricity so make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch was not accidently switched to the “Off” position.
If you check all these things and your heating system will still not turn on, give Knochelmann Service Experts a call at 859-905-0834 and we’ll come out and get you heating again as soon as possible.
