What NATE Certification is and Why it Matters

November 08, 2016

Knochelmann Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning in Sharonville always tells you about how our technicians are NATE-certified, and while it sounds encouraging, what does it actually mean?

NATE is the acronym for North American Technician Excellence and, according to their website, is the nation’s largest certification organization for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and refrigeration technicians. The organization was developed by and has been supported by the entire HVAC and refrigeration industry but not all people in the industry are required to be NATE-certified. The certification is voluntary and technicians can work in the heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration industry without being certified by NATE.

It’s important to Knochelmann Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning that our experts are NATE-certified to make sure we are sending the most qualified and trained technicians into your home. To make sure professionals meet these benchmarks, the NATE-certification exams validate real-world working knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems for technicians. The assessments are knowledge-based assessments that assess the technician’s knowledge of these subjects.

Since Knochelmann Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning focuses on the HVAC side of NATE-certification and not refrigeration, there are only specific areas relevant to our technicians. NATE test candidates may receive installation and/or service certification in one or more of the skill areas listed below:
