When you want heating, air conditioning or plumbing services from Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing, you will pay a trip charge and a diagnostic fee individually. A number of companies you’ve called in the past might have combined the trip charge and diagnostic fee, but we think we can offer better value by keeping them separate.
A trip charge includes the cost for a licensed plumber or HVAC technician to visit your home. Sometimes called a service call fee, this payment is the initial rate for bringing our technicians, equipment and expertise to your doorstep. If you’d like to eliminate trip charges in the future, you can look into registering for one of our membership programs.
The diagnostic fee is made up of the services required to determine the source of a problem. In plumbing, this can be comprised of scoping. For HVAC repairs, it could involve taking a look at the inside of the cabinet. If you decide to use Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing for the repairs, the diagnostic fee will be rolled into the repair costs. But bear in mind, you will be charged for the diagnostic services alone if you choose not to.
In general, a trip fee gets the plumber or HVAC technician to your property, while the diagnostic fee covers all the work related to assessing the issue and working up a plan for repairs. If you are paying for repairs, you won’t notice the diagnostic fee since it’ll be absorbed into the cost of the repairs.
Other plumbers and HVAC companies will charge a single fee for both the trip and the diagnostics. As opposed to charging you for two services at once, we have two distinct fees. This helps us to price our services in the fairest possible manner.
