The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Corporate Office in Plano, TX was excited to contribute 324 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in the Texas city.
“Last fall, I had the chance to get a group of colleagues to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was such an amazing experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They do so much more than just collect food – they are a vital part of this community.”
Cheryl Jackson began Minnie’s Food Pantry as a way to recognize her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent much of her childhood wondering if and where she would receive her next meal. Minnie’s doesn’t just provide free, healthy meals to families in need, they also hold classes to teach families how to utilize the food they are given to make nourishing, long-lasting meals. They also give resume support along with financial and job classes to help people get back on their feet.
Since each family receives around 50 pounds of food to last them a month, Service Experts was able to feed six families for the month.
“Everyone was so ecstatic that we had this food drive for them, and they even took time to show us their awesome facility,” Wilson said.
